Prescription Drug Abuse

Prescription drug abuse is Oklahoma’s fastest growing drug problem.

Safe Use

Read instructions you are given regarding your prescription drugs.

Only take medication prescribed to you.

Never take more than the prescribed amount.

Never share or sell your prescription drugs.

Follow the doctor’s advice regarding your prescription and follow up with any questions you may have.

Safe Storage

Keep prescription pain pills in the original bottle with the label attached and with the child-resistant cap secured.

Store prescription pain medications out of reach of kids, family and guests.

Utilize lock boxes to store medications that are at risk at being abused.

In an effort to promote safe storage, a FREE Medicine Lockbox is available to residents of Muskogee County (one per household), please call us at 918-683-4600 or email prevention@nbn-nrc.org to inquire or schedule a pick-up.
